Publication Ethics and Contributor Responsibilities

MARDIBASA: Journal of Indonesian Language and Literature Learning is published with a strong commitment to upholding ethical standards in scholarly writing and publication. Any form of unethical behavior is unacceptable, and the journal strictly prohibits all types of plagiarism. To ensure the highest quality of publication, MARDIBASA adheres to the COPE: Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and the Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers. The responsibilities of all contributors involved in the publication process are outlined below:

Author Responsibilities

  1. Authors must present an accurate account of the original research performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Manuscripts must comply with the Author Guidelines.
  2. Authors are responsible for ensuring that only original and unpublished works are submitted.
  3. Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously, nor publish the same study in multiple journals.
  4. Authors are prohibited from submitting a manuscript under review or consideration by another journal.
  5. Authors must honestly acknowledge all data sources and appropriately cite influential publications used in their research.
  6. Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All co-authors should have seen and approved the final version of the manuscript.
  7. Authors must provide raw data for editorial review and retain these data for a reasonable time after publication.
  8. If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is their obligation to promptly notify the editor.
  9. Authors may only submit their manuscript to another publisher after formally withdrawing it from this journal or receiving official rejection.
  10. Authors are accountable for all aspects of the work and must ensure its accuracy and integrity.

Reviewer Responsibilities

  1. Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential and must not disclose or use any part of the submitted work.
  2. Reviewers may decline to review a manuscript due to conflicts of interest or lack of expertise.
  3. Reviewers should ensure the manuscript properly acknowledges all data sources and alert the editor to any ethical concerns, including plagiarism or duplicate submission.
  4. Review of the manuscript must be conducted objectively, fairly, and constructively, with clear and professional feedback.
  5. Reviewers must declare their area of expertise before agreeing to review.
  6. If unable to complete the review on time, reviewers must inform the editor to allow reassignment.
  7. Reviewers must be vigilant for plagiarism and duplicate publication.
  8. Reviewers are expected to complete the review within the allocated timeframe and request extensions only when necessary.
  9. Reviewers must not discuss the submission with others without authorization.

Editor Responsibilities

  1. Editors are responsible for the final decision on manuscript acceptance, revision, or rejection based on reviewer feedback.
  2. All manuscripts are initially evaluated by the editor for originality using plagiarism detection software before being forwarded for double-blind peer review.
  3. Editors must ensure intellectual content is evaluated impartially, regardless of the author’s gender, race, religion, nationality, or affiliation.
  4. Editors must treat all submissions confidentially and avoid using unpublished content for their own research.
  5. Editors must not disclose any information about a manuscript to anyone other than those involved in the publishing process.

Editorial Board Responsibilities

  1. Actively contribute to the journal’s development and improvement.
  2. Serve as ambassadors for the journal.
  3. Support and promote the journal.
  4. Review submissions when requested by the editorial team.

Editorial and Managing Editor Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate manuscripts fairly and based solely on academic merit.
  2. Ensure the confidentiality of manuscripts and prohibit unauthorized disclosure.
  3. Make publication decisions and schedule articles accordingly.
  4. Continuously seek feedback from board members, reviewers, and authors to improve the journal’s visibility.
  5. Provide clear guidance to contributors regarding submissions and expectations.
  6. Select appropriate reviewers for submitted manuscripts.

Publisher Responsibilities

Handling Unethical Publication Behavior In cases of suspected or confirmed misconduct, fraudulent publication, or plagiarism, the publisher will work closely with the editors to take appropriate actions. This includes issuing corrections, clarifications, or retractions as needed. The publisher and editors are committed to identifying and preventing unethical practices in the publication process.

Access to Journal Content The publisher is committed to ensuring the permanent availability of published content and maintaining properly managed digital archives to guarantee continued access.
