As a result of this conversational assimilation, professional second language teachers are advocated to design their learning milieu flexibly by adequately allowing language learners to utilize their first language to evoke meaningful communication events with other classroom community members. For this reason, code-mixing and code-switching strategies come to the forefront of the educational realm by which EFL teachers and learners can potentially experience more efficient teaching-learning activities. This present-small scale library study was a slight attempt made by the researcher to specifically investigate the potential rewarding impacts brought about by code-mixing and code-switching strategies toward Indonesian EFL learning processes. To this end, 30 previously-conducted code-mixing and code-switching investigations conducted in this archipelago were exhaustively reviewed to generate trustworthy and relevant research results. The researcher selected these 30 prior studies ranging from 2017 until the 2023 year to yield more up-to-date findings for our EFL learning settings. Based on an in-depth library analysis the integration of code-mixing and code-switching strategies has progressively promoted a significant degree of benefits for the entire Indonesian EFL teaching-learning processes in which language learners could foster their desired target language learning proficiency to the fullest level and experience more enjoyable learning climates with teachers along with learning companions.
2025-06-12T14:16:20+07:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://ejournal.iain-tulungagung.ac.id/index.php/ls/article/view/10874 THE EFFECT OF THE POMODORO TECHNIQUE ON STUDENTS’ WRITING PERFORMANCE ACROSS CRITICAL THINKING LEVELS 2025-07-02T11:40:43+07:00 Elva Yohana [email protected] Anjali Fitriana [email protected] Maharani Kristanti [email protected]
Pomodoro technique deals with the time management of the students in writing descriptive text. Furthermore, this paper reports on investigating the effect of the Pomodoro technique combined with video learning on students’ performance across critical thinking levels. The study was implemented by employing forty-five students of the English Language department in Indonesia. The experimental group and the control group were used to assign them to assess students’ writing performance across critical thinking levels. Therefore, the pre-test and post-test in writing conducted in this study to get the quantitative data analysis whereas the questionnaire was given after the post-test was used to get the qualitative data on students' critical thinking levels. The result of this study revealed that the Pomodoro technique combined with video learning was effective to enhance the students' writing performance. Additionally, the different levels of students' critical thinking in the experimental group would not affect the students' writing performance even there was the treatment taught in it.
2025-06-19T09:21:32+07:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://ejournal.iain-tulungagung.ac.id/index.php/ls/article/view/10884 BRIDGING THE GAP 2025-07-02T11:48:09+07:00 shanna talita febbyriane [email protected] Aziza Restu Febrianto [email protected]
The research explores how Indonesian hotel staff perceive their needs of acquiring English competence and explores the communication challenges they face. However, the implementation of BIPA programs at State Islamic Religious Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) across Java and Madura still faces various challenges, such as the absence of specific institutional policies, the lack of a standardized curriculum, limited supporting facilities, and teaching materials that do not meet the needs of foreign learners. This study aims to describe the problems of policy and program implementation at six PTKIN: UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, IAIN Kediri, IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, IAIN Madura, and UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles, Huberman, and Saldana’s interactive model. The findings indicate that BIPA program implementation remains suboptimal. Therefore, policy intervention, institutional strengthening, and the development of an integrative and needs-based BIPA learning model are urgently needed.

2025-06-28T05:39:35+07:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://ejournal.iain-tulungagung.ac.id/index.php/ls/article/view/10886 PENGGUNAAN METODE SPACED REPETITION DALAM PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS KARAKTER BAHASA MANDARIN 2025-07-02T12:17:42+07:00 Hasmawati - Hasmawati [email protected] Krisnawati Krisnawati [email protected] Nur Nasharuddin Noni [email protected]
This study aims to obtain data on the improvement of Mandarin character writing skills of students using the spaced repetition method. Thus, the depictions of rituals in the mass media do not convey the moral code of nature as highlighted. Based on these considerations, this research wants to discover ritual discourse and its relationship with nature. In particular, this study focuses on online news published by various websites using the keyword ‘baritan.’ The data was collected on May 23-25, 2023, with data coverage from 2018 - 2023, while obtaining 136 news articles. The data were analyzed using Van Dijk’s method of discourse analysis, which seeks to reveal social cognition using a linguistic analysis approach. Although this research will not talk much about power, it wants to determine the dominance of discourse in depicting ritual and ecology in the media. The other theory to portray the result is Bruno Latour’s concept about the Parliament of Things and how to represent the ‘non-humans’ in this political democracy. This concept of political democracy is constructed based on two things: (1) science and technology and (2) nature that can be connected to become an arena for political practices. This research reveals that the media’s construction of rituals has a major effect dominating the discourse on ritual actors, actions, and networks. The dominance of this discourse makes the knowledge that should be local/personal not get enough space to develop, especially regarding the moral messages stored in rituals. Cultural interpretations of ecological issues may be personal experiences not covered by global meanings. By revealing the diversity of local meanings about the relationship between nature and humans through the baritan ritual, it is hoped that this ritual can become a ‘Parliament of Things’ where actors, human and non-human, feel each other’s presence and rebuild commitments for the sustainability of the actors’ lives
2025-06-09T00:00:00+07:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://ejournal.iain-tulungagung.ac.id/index.php/ls/article/view/10714 PROMOTING MULTIMODAL LITERACY THROUGH OBSERVATIONAL INSIGHT 2025-07-02T13:33:38+07:00 Dwiana Novitasari [email protected] Elok Abidatu Thoyyibah [email protected] Selzhafani Hafshoh [email protected]
This article examines the implementation of multimodal literacy in a school setting, specifically through an observational study conducted at MAU Jabal Noor Trenggalek. Multimodal literacy, which incorporates text, visuals, audio, and interactive media, is increasingly important in today's digitally connected world. While existing theories emphasize its significance, a gap remains in its practical integration within the classroom. This study aims to investigate how multimodal literacy is applied in teaching descriptive texts and to identify challenges and opportunities for its effective implementation. Employing a qualitative research design with a case study approach, data were collected through classroom observations, teacher interviews, and analysis of teaching materials. The findings reveal that while multimodal approaches enhance students' engagement and comprehension, issues such as insufficient teacher training, limited access to technology, and inadequate resource allocation were identified as significant barriers. Based on the results, this study recommends targeted professional development, enhanced infrastructure, and culturally relevant teaching materials to integrate multimodal literacy into classroom practices, emphasizing a balanced approach to pedagogy and technology. These insights contribute to the broader discourse on enhancing literacy education in a digital era.
2025-06-30T00:00:00+07:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement##
