Syaifudin Zuhri is a lecturer at the Institute Agama Islam Negeri/IAIN Tulungagung and a former research fellow at Berlin Graduate School of Muslim Cultures and Societies/BGSMCS-Freie Universiteit Berlin. He graduated from the State Islamic University (Universitas Islam Negeri/UIN) of Sunan Kalijaga majoring in Sociology of Religion (2005) and obtained his Master degree from Leiden University (2010). In 2018, he finished his doctoral studies from Humboldt University of Berlin specialising in Southeast Asian studies. Now, he is now completing his monograph on the invention of sacred tradition and Muslim pilgrimage in Bali, Indonesia. |

Currently, Zuhri serves as the general secretary to the Department for Research and Community Outreaches (Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat/LP2M). His scientific services include being a member of editorial board of Al-Jami’ah: Journal of Islamic Studies, Journal of Indonesian Islam, and the editor-in-chief of Episteme: Jurnal Pengembangan Ilmu Keislaman.
